Reading: This week we set goals for ourselves during writing. We are powering up the super reading strategies that we sometimes forget to use. Students are learning that sometimes they need to use ALL the strategies to figure out an unknown word.
This week we also learned that readers love to talk about books with other readers. We sometimes even have reading play dates! Here are a few students playing teacher during a reading play date. Students also learned how to play a game called, SNAP IT! This game helps us practice our snap words.
Writing: We finished up our Opinion Writing and we are now working on All About Writing. This is a great opportunity for your child to really shine! They write about things they know a lot about. We have Sea Creature experts, Dragon experts, Garden experts, Sports experts...you name it! I love hearing all the fun facts your children know about different topics.
Math: In math we are working on teen numbers. We are building teen numbers and writing number sentences with teen numbers. We are also making sure that our facts that add to ten are fluent.
Science: We have Caterpillars! We now have 5 caterpillars living in our room. We are observing them and learning about the life cycle. Here we are at morning meeting practicing the stages of the butterfly life cycle without any words.
