Reading: We have been practicing answering and asking questions about books we read. For example, students can ask, "Who is the main character?" or "What happens after the boy gets lost?"
Writing: Students have been writing 1-2 sentences about each planet and practiced drawing detailed pictures for our nonfiction book about planets.
Math: We continue to practice 3D shapes and writing number sentences.
Space: We are really enjoying learning about space and we are looking forward to Space Day!

April 16th-Spelling Bee-Congratulations again to Timmy and Sammie for representing our class in the K-2 Spelling Bee!
April 17- Space Day-9:45-11:00 Join us if you can. We will learn a lot!
April 20- Planetarium Field Trip-Please send the permission slips ASAP!
April 20-24 Book Fair-All week in the auditorium. We will visit it as a class and make wish lists. This is a big fund raiser for our library. They are also coordinating a coin drive.
April 22-Academic Fair and Egg Drop (During the Day, Academic fair 6:30-8 pm)
April 28-Are you Smarter than a 5th grader? Irving Family Trivia Night.
April 30-Kindergarten ABC countdown begins
May 1-Irving Sleepover
May 6th Kindergarten Orientation-Do you know any incoming Kindergartners? Tell them about this opportunity for them to see the Kindergarten classrooms!
May 14th Art Fest-This is the culmination of a year's worth of Music, PE, Art, Spanish , Technology and Poetry! It is a great evening event!
May 22-Olympic Day (day) Parent Teacher Softball Game (night)
May 27th-Kindergarten Picnic and Play at Rehm Park (day)
June 1- Walking Field trip to the Oak Park Conservatory
June 5th- Last day of School
