Winter Sing!
Our Winter concerts are coming up on Wednesday at 8:15 and 9:45. They are the same concert but the 8:15 is always very crowded, so if you can manage the 9:45 I suggest it. We will have our winter party directly after the 9:45 concert. We should wrap up around 11:10. I hope you can join us for part of our day.
I've been taking advantage of the kids enjoying some coloring and doing lots of assessments. WOW! I just need to say how proud I am of the progress they have made with letter names, sounds, and sight words! Kindergarten is THE BEST.
Reading:
We've been focusing on MAKING IT MATCH. That means we can't make up words that are not there and we need to make sure the sounds match, too. We have loved reading fairy tales and learning about what makes them a special genre. Over break I encourage you to watch some fairy tales and see if your child can point out the things that make it a fairy tale. While it is a little crass- Shrek is actually a fantastic example of a fairy tale.
Writing:
We learned how to write friendly letters and we are working on using our snap words in our writing.
Math: We are learning about number bonds during calendar and math bins. We continue to practice comparing quantities and numbers and volumes.
